Nyanda State High School

Principal's Welcome

Nyanda the next decade…..this was our promotional slogan throughout 2008. Our school established in 1998 following the merger of Acacia Ridge and Salisbury High schools has seen many changes in the past ten years. The next ten years will see changes that I believe only exist in our dreams at present!

School Principal with captainsTechnology is changing all aspects of our lives. In the field of learning it is allowing young people to access information whenever and wherever they choose. It is allowing them to engage with learning outside the four walls of a classroom. The teacher is no longer the only ‘expert’ and the technology that young people use to connect with each other and the wider world in their everyday lives is a central and important aspect of their world. It is one that schools and teachers must acknowledge and respect if schools are to maintain their relevance in the learning lives of young people.

As much as things change, I believe many things stay the same. School communities are created and based on a foundation of human relationships. When these relationships are respectful, hopeful and caring there is nothing we cannot achieve for young people.

My vision for Nyanda is that we continue to strive to create a learning environment that will cater for the needs of the 21st century learning. An environment that is safe, engaging and supportive. An environment that values and respects every young person who walks through our doors. I want our school to deliver effective education for real outcomes for EVERY student and most of all I want students to enjoy this wonderful time of their lives and look back on their years at Nyanda with joy and pride in all that they have achieved.
